Frequently Asked Questions MM 06-05

Management Memo 06-05 FAQs
Q: Do I list vehicles leased from DGS?
A: No

Q: Under purchased vehicles, do I include vehicles that I have submitted paperwork for purchase but have not received vehicle yet?
A: No, a vehicle is purchased once an agency takes possession and it becomes state property. Prior to receipt of vehicle, a vehicle is only in the process of being purchased.

Q: For Columns 7 - 9: What year I am reporting for?
A: Calendar year 2006

Q. For Column 9: Is this for the life of the vehicles?
A: No, just for calendar year 2006.

Q: Do we report golf cart?
A: No

Q: Are electric golf carts considered Alt Fuel?
A: No

Q: Do we list buses, vans, light duty trucks, and heavy duty trucks?
A: Yes, if they are not 4x4s or SUVs these are listed as passenger vehicles.

Q: What is a passenger type motor vehicle?
A: A motor vehicle used for the transportation of persons and/or property (other than sport utility vehicles or four wheel drive trucks which are addressed separately in this report).  Examples include pickups, vans, dump trucks, buses, and fire trucks.

Q: When DGS is asking for 4x4 Trucks, is there a weight class distinction or are you just looking for trucks that have 4 wheel drive?
A: We're not looking for weight distinctions at this time.

Q: If we have leased two wheel drive trucks should these be reported under "passenger-type"?
A: Anything other than 4x4 trucks and SUVs go in the passenger-type motor vehicle column. The legislation only wanted those two vehicle classifications separated out.

Q: Do I include tractors and construction equipment?
A: Tractors and construction equipment should not be included.  Examples include tractors, backhoes, forklifts, generators, pumps, welders, compressors and chippers.

Q: Do I include trailers?
A: No, they are not self powered and should not be included.

Q: Do I include boats?
A: Boats and personal water craft are not being included at this time.

Q: Would it be possible to get an extension to the filing date of February 15, 2007 for the leased vehicles portion only of the report?
A: Unfortunately we are not able to extend the deadline for reporting SB552 vehicle data. The legislature is closely following the collection of this data and DGS is committed to having the task completed as scheduled.
