Garage Operations


The Office of Fleet & Asset Management (OFAM) has five state garages located in
From these locations, passenger mobile equipment is leased on a short-term (daily) and a long-term (monthly) basis by state employees while in the conduct of official state business. Refer to Section 4100 in the State Administrative Manual (SAM) for detailed leasing information.

The State of California owns and operates approximately 50,000 pieces of mobile equipment, of which approximately 7,000 are owned by the OFAM. It is the OFAM's responsibility to ensure that mobile equipment is properly maintained and safe to operate. Maintenance and repair services are not only available for OFAM mobile equipment, but mobile equipment owned by agencies/departments. Preventive maintenance service is provided in all state garages.

Emergency Roadside Service
The Office of Fleet & Asset Management offers emergency 24-hour roadside service through the National Automobile Club.  Breakdowns on a public street or highway, or in a public parking garage within the State of California are eligible to use this service.
 
To use the roadside service:
  • Call 1-800-600-6065
  • Provide year, make, model, color and license number of vehicle and the 15-digit account number located on the vehicle fuel card.
  • The state employee must be available to provide the keys to the tow truck driver.
Services include:
  • Mechanical first aid (minor repairs).
  • Battery service (jump start).
  • Tire change.
  • Gasoline, oil, and water delivery.
  • Lockout-does not include key making or locksmith service.
  • Towing of passenger vehicles up to 3/4 ton.
